The civil engineer Alexandros Zachariou designed and built the water tower of the Fertilizer Company. Its capacity was 400 cubic meters, and it was completely built from reinforced concrete, being one of the first water towers at industrial units of its time. The water tower ensured the totality of the Company´s supply with fresh water through the central system of water supply of the city while it was also connected with two storage tanks in case of a breakdown in the central system. Following, fresh water was distributed to the installations of the industrial unit- because of gravity- through overground and underground pipes. The Fertilizer Company also needed sea water as well as compressed air. Besides the central network of distribution of freshwater, one could find the equivalent installations of production, dispatch, and storage.
